About the Area
Monadnock Community Hospital is located in the Monadnock Region of New Hampshire. Our hospital and our region are named for Mount Monadnock, a 3,165 foot mountain which offers hundred mile views to points in all six New England States. The Monadnock Region's many lakes and protected rivers provide both wildlife habitat and opportunities for bird watching. In addition to natural beauty, the towns that make up our region offer sophisticated cultural opportunities as well. Peterborough is home to the oldest artist colony in the country - the MacDowell Colony. Shortly after the MacDowell Colony was founded, the Peterborough Players started providing the Monadnock Region with summer stock productions. Each performance since the theater company was founded in 1933 has taken place in the same theater inside a converted 18th century barn.
